Greencastle, April 10 -- Bascom O'HAIR age 80 died here last night after a brief illness. He returned recently from Tampa, FL on account of his health. Mr. O'Hair was a stockholder in the Central National Bank and only recently retired as a director. He is survived by 9 brothers and sisters.

Greencastle – Word has been received here that Bascom O’Hair, a wealthy banker of this city is critically ill in a hospital in San Diego, Cal. Mr. O’Hair went to Florida several months ago and from there to California by way of Panama.

Greencastle April 14 – DePauw University is benefited to the extent of about $25,000 through the generosity of Bascom O’Hair, a wealthy resident of this city who died April 9.  The will of Mr. O’Hair was filed for probate today. It bequeaths to DePauw the Commercial Hotel property here, which is valued at about $25,000.  This is to be held by DePauw and the money derived from it is to be used in teaching the theory of common business. The fund will be known as the Bascom O’Hair fund. Mr. and Mrs. JA Curtis, the latter a sister of Mr. O’Hair will receive an annuity during their lives of $600 a year from the rental of the hotel.  The Brick Chapel Methodist Episcopal Church will receive $15,000 by the will. This church is in the O’Hair neighborhood, six miles north of the city. The rest of the estate which is estimated to be worth $100,000 was divided equally among the brothers and sisters.
